It can be said that the Vespa is the only motorcycle you can ride wearing a tie.
Maybe it's the whole retro thing. Suits might seem like an old-fashioned thing, like when Gregory Peck wore his suit as a reporter even when he was off duty in Roman Holiday. It wasn't too long ago that we wore suits when we were traveling by air. The Vespa brings that cool vibe of looking nice back. Don't feel like you're ever too overdressed to ride your Scooter!
What do you think?
Nice...
Since getting my Vespa GTV (picture: ) last year, I've ridden 7K miles locally. I wasn't sure how I would like relying on the Vespa as primary transportation, but it has been the best vehicle I've ever owned. A month after I bought it, I sold my VW TDI and haven't looked back.
About 1/2 of my riding is in a dress shirt and tie, sometime with a jacket for work. Almost every day, I'll have folks in traffic or in a parking lot stop to ask me about it, usually with a smile on their faces. In a world so connected, it's refreshing to be able to let the phone go to voicemail, relax outside, and connect eye-to-eye with real people.
I was also worried about riding in the rain, but it's not bad if you've got a good rainsuit and are a careful and mature rider. Best tip ever on how to ride in the rain, "Keep the rubber side down."
To answer the #1 question that always comes up, I'm getting 80 mpg around town riding solo and 72 mpg riding two-up, and I've had it up to 77 mph for short stretches. ;-) The folks at Vespa Orlando have been great in all of my dealings with them. Thanks for the support and efforts to build the local scooter community.
How True!
You will never see a harley rider wearing a suit or a tie on his hog.
